Event memory
(Episodic Memory)

The ability to create new memories relating to events, and to retrieve them from memory many minutes after they are recorded. For example, a person's ability to remember where they themselves were yesterday. Impairment in this cognitive area is characteristic of Alzheimer's disease.

Immediate memory and working memory

The ability to hold in immediate attention a limited amount of data used for a particular task. For example, remembering a phone number while copying it.

language

The ability to translate thoughts into words and express them through speech or writing, as well as the ability to understand words that are spoken or read.

Attention and concentration

The ability to focus on a particular sensory input, and filter out other stimuli. As well as switching to another sensory stimulus when necessary. For example, the ability to read a book in a noisy hall, but to turn your attention when your name is called. Impairment of this cognitive domain occurs in many diseases, and is particularly characteristic of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Visual perception

The ability to identify objects through vision, understand their location in space, and the relationship between them. For example, finding the car in a parking lot.

Administrative functions

A collection of higher functions that include the ability to plan a sequence of actions in order to achieve a specific goal, focus on a specific task at a given moment, switch to another task when necessary, and suppress the urge to perform an unnecessary action.
